The VLF towed buoy is a communication system deployable from the submarine, which enable the submarine to exchange data even when submerged.
System function:
The system function is to deploy a towed body incorporating the antenna part of the system, transmit and receive the communication through the towing cable.
System description:
The system is outside the pressure hull of the submarine which means designed to withstand long lasting exposure to sea water and immersion pressure.
The system is composed of a winch, a hydraulic drive of the winch, a control command system, a traction resistant communication cable, a towed body, automatic doors to let the tow body coming in and out of the installation.
